Do Your Homework: Find a Reputable Breeder

Those of us who breed our dogs should be breeding this incredible animals because we are passionate about the breed. We WANT to only breed dogs representative of Best in Breed. Excellent breeders can breed for different reasons. Some breed for Show. Others breed for Hunting or Scent work. Some breed for Stamina.

I breed for health and temperament. Too many Goldens succumb to cancer among other diseases like cardiomyopathy. So reputable breeders work to perfect what they believe is most important. It takes generations usually for a breeder to get where he or she wishes to be.

As a puppy buyer you need to find these excellent people because the hope is you will receive a puppy who has been given a jumpstart on life. An excellent breeder knows what to introduce to the puppies at the appropriate developmental stages. It goes without saying these puppies should be held and loved and raised in a hygienic environment complete with all sorts of physical and mental stimuli.

You will hear the questions you should be asking to interview that breeder AND the types of responses a reputable breeder will have.
