Multiple intelligences fascinated me when I was a teacher. Some of the coolest students did not have the traditional “smarts” in language and in math, but boy were they incredible in science experiments, art, drama, sports, dance, self-awareness, and relating well to others.

Dognition.com will assess the multiple intelligences in your dog. They will give you a detailed report on your dog for about $30. The five canine intelligences are empathy, communication, cunning, memory, and reasoning.

As you know I have four Goldens, all of whom scored very differently. I take Orvie’s results with a grain of salt since he was a 17/18 month pup. He came out as “The Renaissance Dog”, Dog of All Trades, with no specific strategies but used what he felt was needed at the time although he scored way stronger in memory than the other three dogs.

Jazz is defined as “The Stargazer.” A true free spirit. Those of you who have strong willed Jazz pups will see how appropriate this is. Although she scored as extremely trustworthy and bonded, she still shows great determination to get what she wants.

Rosie is defined as “The Charmer.” I could not agree more. EVERYONE falls under her spell, including me, which is why many of the children’s books I am writing are all about this winsome, highly communicative and expressive girl.

And then there is our sweet and very smart Kimmie. The test overwhelmed her. She was highly capable, but it really stressed her out, so we canceled it. We did receive a credit to use for another dog.

The test takes about three hours to complete. We broke it up in 3-5 days. Most dogs could not sustain their best efforts, and the tasks get harder and more complex as you go.

I recommend you have an assistant. Your dog needs really great control with “stay” otherwise.
